How it works
Total = every time marked add, minus every time marked subtract, counted in minutes (hours × 60 + minutes). The result is shown in hours and minutes (60 minutes make 1 hour), in decimal hours (minutes ÷ 60) and in days of 24 hours.
Worked examples
- 3:45 + 2:30 = 5:75 = 6 hours 15 minutes (6.25 hours).
- 8:00 − 0:45 = 7 hours 15 minutes (7.25 hours).
- Five shifts of 8:30 = 42:30 = 42 hours 30 minutes, or 1 d 18 h 30 min.
Common questions
Can minutes be more than 59?
Yes. Enter 90 minutes and the calculator counts it as 1 hour 30 minutes.
What if I subtract more than I add?
The total is shown with a minus sign.
How is this different from the time card calculator?
This adds lengths of time you already know. The time card calculator works out each day from clock-in and clock-out times and adds overtime.
