How it works
Regular pay = regular hours × rate. Overtime pay = overtime hours × rate × overtime multiplier. Double-time pay = double-time hours × rate × double-time multiplier. Total = the sum of the three.
Worked examples
- $18 an hour: 40 × $18 = $720, 6 × $27 = $162, 2 × $36 = $72; total $954.
- $15 an hour with 5 overtime hours: time and a half is $22.50 an hour, so 5 × $22.50 = $112.50 extra.
- $22 an hour, 8 double-time hours on a holiday at 2×: 8 × $44 = $352.
